WHITE GRASS SKI TOURING
offers 50 kilometers of trail system for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and telemarking. 25-30 kilometers of this terrain are groomed trails. Lessons and rentals available. CANAAN VALLEY RESORT

Along with their downhill ski area offerings of skiing, snowboarding, airboarding, and snow tubing, the Resort features a covered, outdoor ice skating arena at the Lodge area, and cross country skiing and snowshoeing on 30 kilometers of marked, ungroomed trails. Cross-country skis and snowshoe rentals available at the ice skating rink.

Blackwater Falls State Park

BLACKWATER FALLS STATE PARK

This model state park offers over ten miles of cross country trails. Many are groomed and maintained specifically for XC skiing. A full service cross-country ski center offers ski lessons and equipment rental. Download the Park’s XC trail map.

SLEDDING

Want to sled? The sledding hill is one-quarter mile long, groomed and maintained for sledding. A one-of-a-kind tow rope to the top operates on weekends. Sleds are available for rent at the cross-country ski center. The Sled Run & Cross Country Ski Center are open from mid-December through mid-March.

HIKING

Hiking? Take a hike to Blackwater Falls – just as beautiful in winter as in summer. Numerous hiking trails can be found at Canaan Valley Resort and the Canaan Valley Federal Wildlife Refuge area.

This is a great way to experience Canaan Valley in winter. Fantastic snow-covered views are yours from the warm back of a horse! Mountain Trail Rides is open year-round for guided horseback rides. Reservations are required, weather permitting.
